CQFW Alignment to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and other national qualification frameworks (NQFs).

On 22 October 2019, ColegauCymru published a report Referencing the Credit & Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW) to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

This work ensures that qualifications in Wales continue to be aligned to the EQF and, through this, to qualifications in other EU member states. The re-referencing supports the mobility of learners as well as the movement of workers wishing to live and work overseas by making the qualifications they hold clear, comparable and recognised outside Wales and the UK.

  • ColegauCymru secured funding from the European Commission to undertake the re-referencing and also managed the funding on behalf of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
  • ColegauCymru worked closely with Qualifications Wales, Welsh Government, HEFCW, NTfW and other stakeholders in Wales to complete the re-referencing in 2019.
  • ColegauCymru worked with colleges and employers in 2010 to put the UK's Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and https://gov.wales/topics/educationandskills/qualificationsinwales/creditqualificationsframework/?lang=en into practice in Wales.
